A delicious salad is often the start of a great meal and sometimes they are so good that they turn into the entire meal itself! Thankfully, all you need $2 and 10 minutes to toss one together, homemade dressing and all! Time to toss that pre-prepared salad in the trash and get thinking about your next creation! 10 Minute Salad Template

Equipment
- Chef's knife
- Cutting board
- Large bowl
- Two forks (Once you get hooked on salads, invest is some cool looking salad tossers – mine look like owl wings!)
Ingredients
- 1 lb organic mixed greens
- 1/2 your choice of fruit, chopped
- 1/2 your choice of onion, thinly sliced
- 4 oz your choice of cheese, crumbled or chopped (can be omitted if you don't eat dairy)
- 1/2-3/4 cup nuts/seeds
- 3 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 3 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Chop fruit and thinly slice onion.
- Put the lettuce, fruit, onion, cheese, and nuts in the large bowl. Set aside a quarter of the nuts to decorate the salad.
- Pour red wine vinegar along inside edge of the bowl, mix salad using forks to combine.
- Pour olive oil along inside edge of the bowl, mix salad using forks to combine.
- Use forks to scoop salad onto serving plates, top with the remaining nuts, and enjoy!
Notes
Tips:
Step 1 – I recommend thinly slicing the onion because large chunks of onion can be overpowering. I recommend chopping the fruit into bite-sized pieces as well. You don’t want to have to use a knife to eat your salad!
Step 3 – If you add the oil first, the vinegar will have trouble sticking to the ingredients. Vinegar first, then oil.
Step 5 – Due to their weight and small size, nuts have the tendency to stick to the bottom and sides of the bowl when mixing/scooping the salad. Reserving some nuts and adding them once the salad has been plated helps solve this problem.
Storage – Once cut, apple slices can be stored in a plastic bag with a little lemon juice to keep them crisp.

- 1 lb of organic mixed greens ~ $6
